  • what is an attended uipath bot?

    Attended bots are helpful collaborators typically for “front office” tasks. These bots work with you to expedite any activity or task typically performed by an employee. Attended bots can provide personal support by taking over a task exactly when needed, or an attended bot can work on their assigned tasks while your employees work on their tasks simultaneously. Attended UiPath bots:

    • Reside on the same workstation as a human employee
    • Help humans complete tasks faster and more efficiently
    • Can be triggered by human action
    • Allow humans to focus on more impactful work 
    • Are best suited to performing tasks related to the human’s project or call in process

     

     

     

    attended named user license

    A user consumes a license when it is defined in Orchestrator. The Attended Named User license is used to assign access to the UiPath platform to one single user. This single user can be defined on multiple machines, but  this user cannot connect from multiple machines at one time. If you have multiple local users, each of them consumes a license in Orchestrator.

    For example, if you have 5 different users  defined as attended UiPath bots in Orchestrator, then 5 Attended Named User licenses are consumed. If you have the same single user defined on 5 different machines, only one license is consumed.

    attended multiuser license

    This license grants multiple users the ability to run multiple UiPath bots  simultaneously,  and allows you to consume these licenses only when the robots are used.. For these reasons, this type of license is recommended for users working in shifts. Licenses are only consumed when the robot tray is opened.

    For example, you are able to have 20 users on 100 machines, all defined as attended bots in Orchestrator, but consume no license if no bot tray is opened. However, if two or more  users connect from the same machine, two Attended Multiuser licenses are consumed.

  • what is an unattended bot?

    Unattended UiPath bots operate without human involvement, maximizing cost savings and performance for a variety of tasks. Unattended bots:

    • Do not rely on human deployment or interaction
    • Are suited to processes that perform privileged operations requiring elevated permissions and credentials that may otherwise be classified.
    • Are ideal for complex and highly repetitive tasks that usually need to be completed in batches and that can be acted upon based on a set of pre-identified rules.
    • Can handle remote execution, monitoring, and scheduling while also able to provide support for work queues.

     

     

    unattended bot applications

    Unattended bots work well for “back office” applications, performing highly repetitive and predictable tasks. When they identify exceptions to their pre-defined rules, your unattended bot sends an alert, bringing a human “in the loop” for validation or other necessary input. Some common unattended bot applications include, but are not limited to:

    • Processing insurance company claims and invoices
    • Ordering services such as appraisals for banks and mortgage companies
    • Running secure credit checks for banks or other institutions that extend credit
    • Using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to upload accounts payable data to ERP

     

    unattended license usage

    This type of licensing counts the maximum number of unattended robots able to execute multiple processes simultaneously. This count is determined by the total number of runtimes assigned to all of your machines online. These licenses can be dispersed across all of your machines.

    Please note: It is impossible to allot more runtimes than there are already available. For example, if there are 2 remaining runtimes available, but 2 runtimes were already assigned to that machine, then you are only able to allocate a maximum of 4 runtimes to that machine.
